Introduction

In the remote hills of northern Thailand, education is a privilege, not a guarantee. Many schools in these secluded communities lack government support due to their small size, making it difficult for children to access any form of education. This is why the KFAM project, in collaboration with Seven Peaks, is dedicated to addressing this challenge.

KFAM is an organization focused on helping impoverished children in Thailand. As a charity, they work to give underprivileged children a better start in life by strengthening local infrastructure and encouraging young people and their families to recognize the value of education and training for long-term impact.

These initiatives were made possible through the joint efforts of volunteers, teachers, the Thai special forces, and community members. The activities carried out during this year of the KFAM project have delivered exceptional results, making it one of the most successful years.

Seven Peaks and KFAM Partnership

Seven Peaks continues to strive with this project for empowerment -we believe that every individual deserves to be seen, heard and supported, regardless of their background or circumstance.

This year, we at Seven Peaks continued our support for KFAM in uplifting underprivileged schools and communities. We also launched a new project, “elephant-repelling beekeeping,” designed to help protect villages from wildlife threats in a sustainable way.

Our founder and CEO, Jostein Aksnes, has supported KFAM since 2011, making this partnership a key part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Through this collaboration, we remain committed to ethical business practices and meaningful community impact.

Supporting Underserved Communities

In these small, isolated communities, access to essential resources is limited. One key challenge is their remote location in the mountains of Chiang Mai, making travel and transportation extremely difficult. As a result, delivering food and other necessities to locals is a significant challenge.

Education is also a pressing issue. Some schools rely on teachers' personal funds to operate, as they do not receive government support due to their small size. This lack of funding makes it even harder to provide quality education to children in these communities.

This year, the KFAM project made significant strides in improving the lives of local communities, including:

1) Renovations for the old school facilities and buildings

The school buildings were renovated so that the children and the teachers could have a better learning environment.

The schools that were renovated included Bra Gro School, Kea Ka Cho De School, Tha Gor De School, Khun Tuen Mai School and Huai Pong School.

2) Essentials for the children- including food, clothing and medical support

3) Providing school equipment

School equipment and supplies were provided to the children so the families would need to pay less to provide their children with education.

4) Community activities

Different activities were organized, where the volunteers and teachers sang, danced and played games together with the children.

5) Special project

Elephant-Repelling Beekeeping – This year, a special project was launched to address the issue of elephants frequently entering Khun Tuen Mai School. Previously, villagers attempted to solve this problem by burning tires, but the KFAM project sought a more sustainable solution: beekeeping near the school to deter elephants.

These initiatives have had a direct impact on over 250 children across seven schools.

Long-Term Impact and Future Plans

In the future, Seven Peaks will continue supporting KFAM in their efforts to bring education to underserved areas. Together with KFAM, Seven Peaks Software aims to achieve the shared vision of brightening the nation's future by helping those in need.

Each year, Seven Peaks will organize events to collect donations for the KFAM project. In the coming years, we hope to raise even more funds to provide greater support to children in need.

Conclusion

This year, the Kharma Family saw significant success compared to the previous year. Extensive renovations were completed on school buildings, and many supplies were distributed.

The lives of people living in the remote mountains of Chiang Mai were positively impacted, with many volunteers offering their support. Seven Peaks continues to work alongside KFAM for a brighter future in Thailand.
